'Persephone's Heart' Black Obsidian & Labradorite Pendant
A fragile but strong black Obsidian heart with Labradorite to work with the Goddess Persephone.
Persephone, a young girl was out in the fields picking flowers and becomes enchanted by the beauty of a Narcissus flower when suddenly the earth opens up and her Uncle, Hades the Lord of the Underworld appears and steals her away in his chariot. Persephone cries out, but of all the gods, only Hekate, the Goddess of the crossroads hears her voice, and Helios, the sun god from above, witnesses the crime.
Working with the story of Persephone is a powerful way to transmute painful energies held by the inner child, transforming and unifying them to balance dark and light in the heart today.
To work with Black Obsidian is one of the most utilised gifts from Nature that has been used for protection to ritual. Traditionally, Obsidian is used for seeing with the inner eye the mysteries of the Universe by gazing into it. Obsidian is used to help create a shield of protection around the body - the Aura is an electromagnetic field around every living entity. In human beings, it is a storehouse of negative and positive energies so Obsidian is worn to deflect negative or harmful energies along with EMF, positive ions.
There are 5 Labradorites on this creation, to represent the Pentacle, the four elements with fifth of Spirit or Consciousness, the earth body, the senses, the number of 5 of chaos and transformation and the Planet Mercury.
Labradorite will protect and shield against reacting or responding to dark energies, and you will notice a marked inner calmness within your etheric layers as well. You will possess a psychic knowing that will make you more confident about taking action, expressing what you feel, and following your inspiration born from within.
This heart carries a little weight and is a physical reminder of the burden of weight that we experience holding onto pain.
'I call on Mercury to help remind me not to eat the food of the dead and live in the present, in the light'
(Food of the Dead - past memories that the mind dwells on, re-living trauma and pain in the present moment)

Mineralogy & Crystallography Obsidian
Obsdian is natural volcanic glass.
Classified as Amorphous because it has no orderly internal atomic structure and no naturally occurring shape, due to its formation from the parent which is a Volcano, Obsidian is produced from felsic lava, rich in the lighter elements such as silicon, oxygen, aluminium, sodium, and potassium. It is commonly found within the margins of rhyolitic lava flows known as obsidian flows.
These flows have a high content of silica, giving them a high viscosity. The high viscosity inhibits diffusion of atoms through the lava, which inhibits the first step (nucleation) in the formation of mineral crystals. Together with rapid cooling, this results in a natural glass forming from the lava.
