Also known as Serafine and Serafinite, Seraphinite is an extremely rare gem variety of Clinochlore, a hydrous magnesium iron aluminum silicate. It can be seen in mass formation as well as botryoidal, with the crystal system being Monoclinic.
Seraphinite is only found in eastern Siberia in Russia.
There are two types - green and golden.
Like all the chlorites, Seraphinite exhibits perfect cleavage in one direction. When polished, seraphinite displays a pearly to vitreous luster, so due to this, Seraphinte is named after the Seraphim/angels.The angel-wing type silver or white iridescent inclusions/ Chatoyancy formation is unmistakable against the rich deep green background.
