Selenite crystal System is Monoclinic.
In the Monoclinic system, the crystal is described by vectors of unequal lengths, as in the orthorhombic system. They form a rectangular prism with a parallelogram as its base.
Selenite is a crystallised form of gypsum, mostly commonly found in the form of a translucent, multifaceted stone. It's formed when sulfate and calcium-rich saltwater evaporates. It is soft and fibreous by nature and it has a hardness of 2 on the Mohs scale. Some of the largest crystals ever found are of Selenite, the largest specimen found in the 'Naica Mine's Cave of the Crystals' being 12 metres long and weighing 55 tons.
